[Raph blood group] This antigen, referred to also as RAPH1, is identical with MER2, a red cell polymorphism identified by 2 monoclonal antibodies, 1D12 and 2F7, obtained after immunization of mice with a human small cell carcinoma line (Daniels et al, 1987). 92 % of English blood donors express MER2. The MER2 antigen is present also on some leukemia fibroblasts and human cell lines (Daniels et al, 1987).
Karamatic Crew et al (2004) have shown that MER2 is encoded by the tetraspanin CD151
