RM3/1

The RM3/1 membrane glycoprotein antigen is detected by the monoclonal antibody of the same name on human monocytes and macrophages that evolve in the late phase of inflammation. RM3/1 has been shown to be identical with CD163 (Högger et al, 1998).

The RM3/1 antigen is found in the human term placenta (Mues et al, 1989). It is expressed by skin histiocytes, liver Kupffer cells, spleen macrophages of the red pulp, and some thymus macrophages (Zwadlo et al, 1987).
