approved gene symbol: RNLS. Renalase is an FAD-dependent amine oxidase, referred to also as MAO-C [Monoamine oxidase-C]. The cDNA has been cloned by Xu et al (2005).
The enzyme is being referred to also as dihydro-NAD(P)-oxygen oxidoreductase. The enzyme is involved in the oxidation of isomeric forms of beta-NAD(P)H that are inhibitory to primary metabolism (Beaupre et al, 2013, 2015).
