[S cell, secretin-secreting cells, secretin-secreting cell, secretin-producing cells, secretin-producing cell]
[Secretin cells] Enteroendocrine cells in the gastrointestinal tract (mainly in the small intestine) of most mammalian species (Chey and Escoffery, 1976; Larsson et al, 1977; Straus and Yalow, 1978). These cells, which are called also small granule cells, are also found in the colon (Lopez et al, 1995), the gastric antral and oxyntic mucosa (Chey et al, 2003). The cells are defined by their ability to synthesize the hormone secretin and are one of at least ten cell types belonging to the diffuse neuroendocrine system
