SIGLEC-7

[sialic acid binding immunoglobulin-like lectin 7] This protein is a member of a family of transmembrane proteins known as SIGLECs. It has been identified independently as AIRM1 [adhesion inhibitory receptor molecule 1] or QA79 membrane protein and has been termed also D-SIGLEC. In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has received the designation CD328.

The gene has been cloned by Angata and Varki (2000) by virtue of sequence homology to other members of the SIGLEC family. SIGLEC-7 binds sialic acid moieties (Nicoll et al, 1999).
