SIS family of cytokines
[SIS stands for small inducible secreted] General name given to a number of small secreted proteins with chemotactic (see also: Chemotaxis) and pro-inflammatory activities. These proteins are members of the family of chemotactic cytokines known as Chemokines (subgroup of CC-Chemokines). A new systematic nomenclature has been proposed for these factors. See: SCY family of cytokines.
SIS-alpha is identical with MIP-1-alpha (see: MIP, macrophage inflammatory protein).
SIS-beta is identical with LD78-beta.
