abbr. TAP (a term with multiple meanings). This protein is encoded by the murine Ly2 locus. It is expressed in various organs. TAP is a cysteine-rich protein which is anchored in the membrane by phosphatidylinositol. It influences the synthesis of IL2 and is responsible for the maximal expression of IL2 together with other secondary signals (Reiser et al, 1988; Yeh et al, 1986). See also: cell activation.
Ly2 (TAP) are the murine homolog of the human CD antigen CD8-alpha. The old designation Ly2 has been withdrawn.
