an acromym standing for " T-cell activation antigen, increased late expression" coined by Wang et al (1992) who cloned the cDNA from T-cells. TACTILE (569 amino acids). Increased expression of TACTILE is observed after cell activation of peripheral T-cells and NK-cells, whereas B-cells express low levels only after activation.
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD96.
