[tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin and EGF homology domains-1]. also abbr. TIE (a term with multiple meanings). The human TIE-1 gene maps to chromosome 1p34-p33 and has been cloned by Partanen et al (1992). The gene has been identified independently as JTK14. A closely related receptor protein is TIE-2.
Human TIE-1 is an endothelial cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase. TIE-1 is expressed abundantly in endothelial cell lines and in some myeloid leukemia cell lines with erythroid and megakaryoblastoid characteristics.
