[Toll-IL1 receptor domain] This protein domain of 135-160 amino acids has been found in a comparison of the Drosophila melanogaster protein Toll, a transmembrane receptor involved in the establishment of dorso-ventral polarity, and the intracellular regions of the mammalian IL1 receptor (see also: TLR; Toll-like receptors) (O'Neil, 2000; O'Neill and Bowie, 2007; Xu et al, 2000; Yamamoto and Akira, 2005).
The domain functions as a protein-protein interaction motif that occurs in the cytoplasmic portion of many different toll-like receptors, in members of the IL1 receptor family
