[Toll-like receptor-16] This toll-like receptor is found in chicken only. This receptor, like other toll-like receptors, plays a role in innate immunity by acting as a pattern recognition receptor. Keestra et al (2007) have shown that transfection of HeLa cells with a combination of chicken TLR2 and TLR6 yields potent NF-kappa-B activation. The sensitivity of this complex is strongly enhanced by human CD14.
