[tripartite motif containing 25] The gene encoding TRIM25, a member of a large family of proteins containing a tripartite motif, has been identified by Inoue et al (1993) who initially called it EFP [Estrogen-responsive finger protein] and subsequently referred to it as RNF147 [RING finger protein 147] (Inoue et al, 1995). The gene is being referred to also as ZNF147 [Zinc finger protein 147].
