[tumor suppressor activated pathway-6] The human gene has been described in databanks as Dudulin 2 (Isogai et al) (sometimes spelled dudlin 2). The approved gene symbol is STEAP3 [six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 3]. The sequence has been isolated from a cDNA library derived from the NT2 neuronal precursor cell line after two weeks of treatment with retinoic acid (Steiner et al, 2000). The human gene has been cloned by Passer et al (2003) and shown to encode a protein of 488 amino acids with five to six transmembrane domains.
