[thymic stroma-derived T-cell growth factor] This factor biochemically uncharacterized factor of 25 kDa is isolated from the conditioned medium of the fibroblast-like cell line MRL104.8a established from thymic stroma. This factor functionally replaces these cells, which can be used to support the growth of IL2 dependent T-helper cell lines in the absence of IL2 and antigens. TSTGF also supports the growth of immature thymocytes in the presence of IL1, IL2 or IL4 and influences the differentiation of thymocytes.
