[T-lymphocyte-expressed seven-transmembrane domain receptor] The cDNA for this receptor encodes a protein that has a high level of identity with receptors for other chemokines. TYMSTR mRNA is expressed selectively in CD4(+) T-lymphocytes stimulated by IL2 but not in freshly isolated lymphocytes and leukocytes or related cell lines. TYMSTR, in combination with CD4, mediates HIV1 fusion and entry, eventually leading to proviral DNA formation.
The receptor is the same as the one identified under the name Bonzo or STRL33. The new designation for this receptor is CXCR6. For the ligand see:
