These cells are subpopulations of T-cells differentiated from CD8(+) T-cells. The produce the interleukin IL9. Murine CD8(+) T-cells activated in the presence of IL4 plus TGF-beta develop into transient IL9 producers characterized by specific IFN-gamma and IL10 expression patterns as well as by low cytotoxic function along with diminished expression of the CTL-associated transcription factors T-bet and Eomesodermin.
