abbr. TfsvVEGF. Habu snake VEGF. The toxin is thought to be responsible for increases in vascular permeability after envenoming (see also: VPF, vascular permeability factor). TfsvVEGF has almost 10-fold less mitotic activity than VEGF-165, but a similar effect on vascular permeability. TfsvVEGF binds VEGFR1 (flt-1) and induces its autophosphorylation to almost the same extent as VEGF-165. Binding to VEGFR2 (KDR), and autophosphorylation, is weak, compared to VEGF-165 (Takahashi et al, 2004).
