[Ts differentiation factor] TsDF has been found in primary mixed lymphocyte reaction supernatants (see also: Conditioned medium) (Chu et al, 1987; Chu and Rich, 1987). The factor is produced constitutively by the murine thymoma BW5147 and is referred to also as BW5147-derived Ts differentiative factor, or BW-TsDF.
This biochemically uncharacterized factor is not identical with IL2, IL3, IFN-gamma, or IL1. It is a protein of approximately 14.5 kDa that induces the differentiation of alloantigen-primed suppressor T-cells to expression of their effector function, i.e., to active TsF production.
