[VEGF-A206] [Vascular endothelial growth factor-206] VEGF-206 is a splice isoform of VEGF that contains a 41 amino acid insertion relative to the most abundant form, VEGF-165, and includes the highly basic 24 amino acid insertion found in another isoform, VEGF-189 (Houck et al, 1991). Studying the expression of VEGF isoforms in different rat tissues, Basic et al (1995) have noted that a rat homolog of VEGF-206 does not seem to exist.
Like VEGF-189, VEGF-206 is predominately cell-associated and only very poorly secreted despite the presence of the signal peptide
