Vago

This Drosophila melanogaster protein (DmVago) is encoded by gene CG2081. The protein is being referred to also as DIGF-2, identified independently in an analysis of Drosophila melanogaster proteins that match the canonical inter-chain disulfide bridges of IGF-like proteins (Kleinjung et al, 2008; Sheldon et al, 2007). The protein contains a single von Willebrand factor VWC domain. It is not expressed during development, and misexpression has no apparent effect on development or viability (Sheldon et al, 2007).

Vago, which encodes an 18 kDa cysteine-rich polypeptide, has been identified by Deddouche et al (2008) as one of several genes the expression of which is induced in response to viral infection. Induction of Vago depends on the helicase Dicer-2, which belongs to the same family as ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
