Vanishin
This mouse protein, which shows 61 % identity with PEA15 [phosphoprotein enriched in astrocytes 15], contains a DED domain but does not bind to several proteins containing this domain (FADD, caspase-8, PEA15). The protein has been shown to inhibit activation of ERK [extracellular-signal regulated kinase], which is involved in the regulation of transcription, proliferation, migration, and cell death by apoptosis. The protein forces increased accumulation of ERK in the nucleus without ERK stimulation. In databanks, the protein is being referred to as PEA15B [
