Also: lactalbumin-alpha(50-52). This peptide is a subfragment of alpha-lactalbumin with the sequence YGL. It is obtained by proteolytic digestion of whey protein concentrates. The peptide is an inhibitor of angiotensin-1 converting enzyme (CD143) (Pihlanto-Leppälä et al, 2000). See also: lactokinins. See also cryptides for bioactive fragments of parent proteins.
For other proteins (or fragments thereof) with at least one additional activity that differs from the established 'classical' activity of the parent protein see also: Dual identity proteins and Cryptides MiniCOPE Dictionary.
