This peptide with the sequence YVPFP (Tyr-Val-Pro-Phe-Pro) is derived from alpha-s1-casein (approved gene symbol: CSN1S1 [casein-alpha-s1]) and corresponds to alpha-s1-casein(158-162). The peptide binds with high affinity to all three subtypes of the kappa-opioid receptor and inhibits the growth of T47D human breast cancer cells (Kampa et al, 1996). Kampa et al (1997) have reported that the peptide inhibits cell proliferation of human prostate cell lines
