Also: lactoglobulin-beta(15-20). This short peptide (VAGTWY; Val-Ala-Gly-Thr-Trp-Tyr) is obtained from bovine beta-lactoglobulin by proteolytic digestion with trypsin. The peptide shows bactericidal activity against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus lentus, Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus luteus), suggesting a possible antimicrobial function of beta-lactoglobulin after its partial digestion by endopeptidases of the pancreas (Pellegrini et al, 2001).
Jacquot et al (2010) have reported that the synthetic peptide also stimulates proliferation of murine splenocytes
