[Bombinakinin M gene associated peptide] This amidated peptide, DMYEIKQYKTAHGRPPICAPGEQCPIWVamide, has been purified from skin secretions of the toad Bombina maxima (Lai et al, 2003). It shows 32 % sequence identity with CART [Cocaine-and amphetamine-regulated transcript protein]. Intracerebroventricular administration of the peptide induces a significant decrease in food intake in rats. The peptide is coexpressed with bombinakinin M, a peptide from the same toad that is related to bradykinin.
