[cardiac tissue macrophage]
this cell type has been identified and characterized by Pinto et al (2012). Cardiac tissue macrophages constitute an abundant population of tissue macrophages within the adult and comprise the predominant myeloid cell population in the myocardium. The cells are found throughout myocardial interstitial spaces and interact directly with capillary endothelial cells and cardiomyocytes. Immunophenotyping shows that these cells exhibit canonical macrophage markers such as F4/80, CD14 and CSF1R (the M-CSF receptor).
Gene expression analysis shows that these CD45(+)
