also: beta-casein(178-182). This fragment of bovine beta-casein, with the sequence Val-Pro-Tyr-Pro-Gln (VPYPQ) is a potent inhibitor of DPP4 [dipeptidyl peptidase 4]. The peptide can be released efficiently from casein following hydrolysis by a combination of papain and in vitro digestion. The peptide is resistant to hydrolysis by gastrointestinal enzymes and is relatively more stable to hydrolysis by DPP4 and peptidases in plasma compared with its fragments.
