This bioactive peptide with the sequence PGPIPN from bovine casein-beta shows immunomodulatory activities and stimulates the phagocytosis of opsonized sheep red blood cells by murine peritoneal macrophages. Intravenous administration enhances the resistance to infection with Klebsiella pneumoniae in adult mice (Migliore-Samour and Jollès, 1988; Parker et al, 1984).
