cold-insoluble globulin

abbr. CIg, also: CI globulin. Cold-insoluble globulin is a serum globulin so named because it can be recovered in the cryoprecipitate of serum (Morrison et al, 1948; Edsall, 1978). Cold-insoluble globulin is a large glycoprotein found in considerable amounts in plasma (Mosesson and Umfleet, 1970).

A slightly modified form is associated with the cell surface of cultured fibroblasts and other cells (Ruoslahti and Vaheri, 1975), who have referred to this protein as Fibroblast surface antigen (SF antigen, SFA). Keski-Oja et al (1976) have concluded that SFA is the same as the external glycoprotein lost in proteolytic stimulation and maligant transformation, ... ... ... ... ...
