abbr. CL-LK. This designation refers to a heteromeric complex consisting of Collectin-10 (CL-L1 [collectin liver protein 1]) and collectin-11 (Collectin K1 [collectin kidney protein 1]) (Henriksen et al, 2013, 2014). The complex is found in the circulation. Upon binding to microbial glycoconjugates, it activates the lectin pathway of the complement system, and thereby contributes to the removal of invading microorganisms.
Troegeler et al (2015) have suggested a role of the protein complex as a soluble pattern recognition receptor for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, showing that the amount of CL-LK in the serum
