This cell type is found in the pituitary gland. It is a hybrid cell type that expresses hormones of corticotropes (ACTH) and thyrotropes (thyrotropin) (Child, 1991) and may constitute an intermediate stage for the interconversion of these cell types by transdifferentiation.
For related information see also: Cell types, Cell lines in Cytokine Research, Cell culture.
