This bioactive peptide with the sequence ATSKPSLKC (Ala-Thr-Ser-Lys-Pro-Ser-Leu-Lys-Cys) has been identified by Wang et al (2016) in a screen for anti-inflammatory peptides from a Hydrophis cyanocinctus venom gland T7 phage display library. Hydrostatin-TL1 inhibits the interaction between TNF-alpha and its receptor, TNFR1 and attenuates the cytotoxicity of TNF-alpha in L929 cells.
