abbr. LRP (a term with multiple meanings). LRP is an integral plasma membrane protein that mediates cell-cell interactions of adult rat hepatocytes with rat liver epithelial cells and plays a role in maintaining the differentiated phenotype of these cells. The protein is found on the membranes of Sertoli cells, spermatocytes, and early spermatids. The protein plays a role in cell-cell contact mediated regulation of the functions of Sertoli cells by primary spermatocytes (Gerard et al, 1995).
