[myb induced myeloid protein-1]; also myeloid protein-1 in some data banks. The chicken gene encoding mim-1 has been identified by Ness et al (1989) as one directly regulated by the product of the myb oncogene, an oncogene that oncogene induces myeloid leukemias in chickens, and causes cell transformation of myeloid cells in vitro. The gene encodes a secreted protein produced by normal and v-myb transformed promyelocytes. The gene is expressed in granulocytes.
