[myeloid suppressor cell]
With reference to two characteristic markers they express, these cells are being referred to also as Gr-1(+) CD11b(+) myeloid cells or CD11b(+) Gr-1(+) myeloid cells within the spleen or at tumor sites (Bronte et al, 1998, 2000) The cells are being referred to also as MDSCs [myeloid-derived suppressor cells] (Gabrilovich et al, 2007), which are thought to be a heterogeneous cellular population containing macrophages, granulocytes, immature dendritic cells, and early myeloid precursors. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells can be divided into two subtypes according to morphology and surface markers: Ly6G(-) Ly6C(high)
