abbr. NAF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized factor is isolated from transformed human T-cells. It stimulates the intrinsic tyrosine-specific protein kinase of the neu oncogene, induces receptor dimerisation and internalization of ligand/receptor complexes (see also: Autophosphorylation). The factor also enhances the proliferation of cells expressing neu. NAF does not interact with the EGF receptor which is related closely to neu.
