[annexin family 1] nex-1 is a Caenorhabditis elegans gene identified by Creutz et al (1996). nex-1 (35 kDa) is 36-42 % identical in sequence to 10 known mammalian annexins. nex-1 is transcribed continuously during the developmental stages (Nishioka et al (2007)
nex-1 is associated with membrane systems of the secretory gland cells of the pharynx, with sites of cuticle formation in the grinder in the pharynx, with yolk granules in oocytes, with the uterine wall and vulva, and with membrane systems in the spermathecal valve.
Satoh et al (2000) have reported that Nex-1 binds to liposomes containing phosphatidylserine. Nex-1 also binds to heparin, heparan sulfate, and chondroitin sulfate
