nodosome

[nodosomes]

This term has been used by von Kampen et al (2010) to refer to multiprotein complexes involving the pattern recognition receptor and intracellular pathogen sensor NOD2 [Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein 2] (Ogura et al, 2001) and CARD8 [caspase recruitment domain-containing protein-8]. Activation of the nodosome ultimately leads to the regulation of caspase-1 and NF-kappa-B activation in the context of innate immune reactions (for a related multiprotein complex see also: inflammasome).

Another nodosome complex, consisting of NOD1 [Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein 1] or NOD2 and containing the receptor-interacting protein ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
