[oncogerminative cell]
This term has been coined by Vinnitsky (1993) who delivered an oncogerminative hypothesis of tumor formation that mimics tages commonly found in embryo development. The term appears to be used synonymously for cells with stem cell characteristics that are now being referred to as cancer stem cells. See: neoplastic stem cells. The author also mentions oncotrophoblast cells that are said to imitate trophoblast cells of the embryo, and differentiated oncosomatic cells, which imitate somatic cells of the embryo
