pancreatic icosapeptide

This peptide is encoded by a separate exon (Leiter et al, 1985) in the precursor of pancreatic polypeptide. The sequence is separated from the pancreatic polypeptide sequence by a classic cleavage and amidation site. Unlike the sequence of pancreatic polypeptide, the sequence of pancreatic icosapeptide is heterogeneous in different species (Schwartz et al, 1984; Boel et al, 1984). The function of the icosapeptide is not known, but is a stable product of PP cells (Sundler et al, 1984).

Amaratunga et al (2001) have reported that pancreatic icosapeptide is secreted from porcine pancreas, found in serum, and serum levels rise in response to hypoglycemia in pigs and to carbachol in fetal ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
