parathyroid hormone

abbr. and approved gene symbol: PTH; abbr. also: PTH1 [parathyroid hormone 1]. The hormone was described originally as parathyrin. It is being referred to also as Parathormone in older references.

The amino acid sequence has been reported by Keutmann et al (1978). The gene and cDNA sequences have been cloned and sequenced by Hendy et al (1981), Vasicek et al (1983), and Reis et al (1990). The gene structure has been described by Goswami et al (2004).

Parathyroid hormone is a polypeptide of 84 amino acids that is synthesized as a 115 amino acid precursor, preproparathyroid hormone (preproPTH). The primary amino acid sequence of parathyroid hormone is highly conserved among ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
