peptide 3

This peptide corresponds to amino acids 51-62 of the mature human monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and thus corresponds to CCL2(51-62) (MCP-1(51-62); EICADPKQKWVQ; Glu-Ile-Cys-Ala-Asp-Pro-Lys-Gln-Lys-Trp-Val-Gln] (Reckless et al, 2001) and qualifies as a cryptide. It inhibits the chemotactic response of cells elicited by a wide range of chemokines (CXC-Chemokines, CC-Chemokines). Peptide 3 inhibits migration of THP-1 cells induced by MCP-1 (ED50 approx. 8 microM).
