This term pertains to synthetic stretches of arginine residues (L-isoforms or D-isoforms, that are resistant to proteolysis), most commonly Octa-arginine (Arginine-octamer) (RRRRRRRR; abbr. often R8) or Nona-arginine (Arginine-nonamer, sometimes Nonarginine) (RRRRRRRRR; abbr. often R9), but also shorter and longer constructs (Rn, n=7-16; Futaki et al, 2001, 2001; Alhakamy and Berkland, 2013).
