called also: spinous cells. These cells are found in the stratum germinativum of the epidermis and imbedded between epithelial cells (Brody, 1969; Mery et al, 1980). They are characterized by fine radiating processes connecting the cells with other similar cells (Laden et al, 1952). These cells lie above the basal layer of the skin and represent keratinocytes.
