or simply prostatic secretory glycoprotein. This protein has been purified from mouse ventral prostate secretion. It is a secretory protease inhibitor with anti-trypsin activity that is expressed in the seminal vesicle, coagulating gland and the pancreas. Expression is markedly stimulated by testosterone in the sex accessory tissues and unaffected by this hormone in the pancreas, where the protein is expressed constitutively. Sequence analysis shows that the protein is the mouse counterpart of PSTI [pancreatic secretory trypsin inhibitor] (Mills et al, 1987).
