This protein of 90 kDa (often simply referred to as 90K or 90K protein, termed also TAA90K [Tumor-associated antigen 90K] (Laferte et al, 2000), has been found at elevated concentrations in the serum of patients with various types of breast, lung, colorectal, ovary, and endometrial cancer (Iacobelli et al, 1986, 1988, 1993). The cDNA, named Mac2BP [Mac-2-binding protein], has been cloned by Koths et al (1993). The protein is the same as galectin-3-binding protein.
