[lymph node sinus-lining cells] This cell type is a component of lymph node sinuses (Wacker et al, 1997). The cells are of a dendritic cell type distinct from other known lymph node cells, especially from professional macrophages.
As typical dendritic cells, sinus-lining cells are linked to each other via their elongated dendrites and form a wide-meshed reticulum within the sinus cavity. The cells express high levels of IL6 mRNA Sinus-lining cells lack evident signs of phagocytic activity and are characterized by collagen engulfment (Peters et al, 1997).
