Mutations in this gene cause dramatic overproliferation phenotypes and various developmental defects in both mosaic animals and homozygous mutants (Xu et al, 1995). Homozygous clones that arise in heterozygous flies in the imaginal disc cells lead to epithelial tumors that are easily visible as massive wart-like outgrowths on the cuticle of adult flies.
