Nipah virus V protein |
TIEG-2 |

This protein is encoded in the genome of Nipah virus, an enveloped negative-strand RNA virus of the Paramyxoviridae family. Nipah virus P protein is localized in the nucleus. The protein shares an N-terminal region of 407 amino acids with Nipavirus V protein, and Nipah virus P protein but has a distinct C-terminal sequence.
The Nipah virus W protein prevents phosphorylation of the STAT1 protein and sequesters STAT1 in the nucleus. This effectively blocks signaling of the receptors for IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma.
