[tumor migration inhibition factor] This biochemically uncharacterized factor of approximately 6 kDa reversibly inhibits the migration of a number of tumor cell types. Human and murine TMIF influences the adherence of tumor cells to endothelial cell monolayers in vitro as seen by diminished attachment and enhanced dissociation. Partially purified TMIF is also cytostatic for a number of tumor cell lines. See also: Motogenic cytokines.
